Whitley County Transit

WCT provides a door-to-door public transport service for individuals who reside in Whitley County utilizing 11 wheelchair equipped vans and a van that is not wheelchair equipped Monday - Friday from 7:00AM to 5:00PM. Our service is on a first come first serve basis and is limited to our available capacity. We do not evaluate or pre-qualify our riders. Clients may use this service for many different transportation needs, including trips to the doctor's office or hospital, their place of employment, or local events. Transportation is also available for young school aged children to daycare or kindergarten. Feel free to call 248-8944 for more information and to reserve a ride.

WCT is a service provided by the Whitley County Council on Aging with funding provided in part by the county government, United Way of Whitley County, Whitley County Community Foundation, AIHS Title IIIB Funds from the Older American's Act program, fundraising efforts, and charitable contributions. WCT provides affordable, public transportation throughout Whitley County for everyone regardless of age, ethnicity, religion, gender, disability, or ancestry.


WCT operates Monday through Friday from 7:00AM to 5:00PM. Service will not be available in observance of normal holidays or on the weekends.


The fares listed below are per person and based on one-way trips. Please note that senior citizens 60 and older can ride within Whitley County for a monetary donation.

The following individuals ride free:

Prepaid travel vouchers are available at the Senior Citizen Center. Get $25.00 worth of rides for only $20.00. For questions, call (260) 248-8944 or (800) 290-1697.


TRIP RESERVATIONS MUST BE MADE 24 to 48 HOURS IN ADVANCE. Call (260) 248-8944 or (800) 290-1697 between 8:00AM and 1:00PM for a trip the next business day or up to 30 days in advance. Trips are scheduled on a first come first serve basis, so call please call ahead to assure a ride.

The scheduler will need the following information in order to set up your ride:

  1. Your name
  2. Travel date
  3. How many people will be accompanying you
  4. Pick up and destination addresses
  5. What time you need to be at your destination
  6. What time you would like to be picked up (if applicable)
  7. Medicaid number (if applicable)

Pick up times are scheduled to allow us to pick you up as close to your appointment as possible. Be ready to ride 15 minutes before your scheduled time. To ensure that we stay on schedule, the drivers are required to wait only 5 minutes for a passenger before proceeding to the next stop. Call us if a van has not arrived to pick you up within 15 minutes of your scheduled appointment.

If necessary, please cancel your ride appointment as soon as you know you will not be riding. There is an answering machine available if you need to call after business hours. Cancellations must be reported in advance to avoid a "no-show" fee of $5.00.

Please note WCT is a shared transportation service. You may have to wait while other clients are being picked up or dropped off before arriving at your destination.
